Parent Committee
Hillside Pre-School is a charity, led by a committee of volunteers who ensure the charity functions effectively and that children attending get the best education and support.
In 1979, Pat Sullivan, the pre-school’s founder set up a parent-led Committee that governed the pre-school and, together with her as the pre-school manager, ensured its successful operation. This philosophy and parent-led structure continues today, working closely with the pre-school Manager and the team of highly experienced staff. Combined with being a charity, the Committee and staff can focus purely on providing high-quality childcare without the need to make a profit.
Parents of children currently at Hillside volunteer their time at regular meetings to ensure that we are running the best pre-school we can be. Without this Committee, the pre-school cannot legally operate. Every year, as the children of Committee members move on from Hillside to start school, vacancies open-up and these roles need to be filled by current parents.
The Committee requires a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 12 members including a Chairperson, a Treasurer and a Secretary. We meet every 6 weeks to discuss governance issues, approve key decisions and plan out marketing and fundraising initiatives.
We know we have many talented and enthusiastic parents at Hillside... How would you like to contribute your knowledge, skills and experience towards our wonderful parent-led school? Not sure if you have the time to be a committee member but still want to contribute? We can always use help with fundraising and would love your support!
