Parent Committee
Hillside Pre-School is a registered charity, led by a parent committee who work closely with the manager and staff team to support the running of the setting. This structure has been at the heart of Hillside since it was founded in 1979 by Pat Sullivan, and it continues to be a key part of what makes our pre-school such a strong and supportive community.
Our committee is made up of parents and carers of children currently attending Hillside. By volunteering their time, they help ensure the pre-school runs smoothly, remains sustainable, and continues to provide high-quality care and education for all children.
As a charity, Hillside operates on a not-for-profit basis. This means that all decisions are made with the children and families in mind, allowing us to focus fully on providing the best possible early years’ experience.
The committee meets regularly throughout the year to support governance, oversee key decisions and help with fundraising and events. Without a parent committee, the pre-school would not be able to operate, so their role is both valuable and essential.
Each year, as children move on to their next setting or school, new committee members are needed. We warmly encourage parents to get involved - whether by taking on a committee role or supporting fundraising and events in any way they can.
Fundraising & Community Events
Our committee plays a big role in organising fun and engaging events that bring our community together and help raise valuable funds for the pre-school. These events are always a highlight for families and children, and recent activities have included:
- Cake sales
- Movie nights
- Bingo nights
- Tabletop toy sales
- Summer raffle
- Guess the Baby Competition
- Seasonal events and celebrations
These occasions not only support the pre-school but also create a wonderful sense of community, giving families the opportunity to get involved, meet others and enjoy time together.
